The Xiaomi Mi Watch is official under Google Wear OS!

If the world of connected watches was a little stirred last week with the acquisition of FitBit by Google, it may well be that Xiaomi is also starting to overshadow the big brands with this new Mi Watch with a particularly licked design, greatly inspired by the Apple Watch, but at a significantly lower price.

The Xiaomi Mi Watch offers a 1.78-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 326 ppi (dot per inch). As an example, it is therefore a resolution as fine as that of an iPhone XR, any proportion of size kept, of course.

The watch is powered by MIUI for Watch, Xiaomi’s in-house operating system, already on its smartphones. The watch OS is actually based on Google WearOS, which may also land on the upcoming FitBit news, which already owns the American giant.

The case is completely made of aluminum alloy which gives it a fairly nice premium appearance, especially with its single button and crown that reminds one of the Apple friend. On each side, there is a microphone, while the speaker is on the left side to listen to incoming calls or, more simply, music.

Finally, be aware that the back of the watch is made of ceramic where a heart rate sensor is housed, a guarantee of the quality of the
materials used, in addition to the smooth-looking metal already used for the case. It will only be available in one size: 44mm.

On the processor side, we can count on the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 4G with four hearts, supported by 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage memory. The latter will support 4G connections, through an eSIM, which is still unavailable in Belgium, of course.

Apparently, we will be able to count on 2 days of autonomy, with a 570 mAh battery (almost double the Apple Watch Serie 5), without the 4G connection which is in any case useless here. It will connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth and will also support NFC, WiFi and GPS.

Waterproof, the Mi Watch will also have sensors to track the quality of your sleep, which can be viewed on the Xiaomi App and thus provide you with a good wheelbarrow of statistics. It remains to be seen which Apps will be compatible in our European countries. The announced price is close to $ 185 (€ 166), a low and extremely competitive price that will have to be adjusted when it is launched in Europe.
